Meet Adebimpe Adebara, Founder Peice of my Heart Foundation




Meet Adebimpe Adebara, Founder of Piece of my Heart Foundation. She shares in this interview with Attain, her passion to help sexual abuse survivors get over depression and anxiety after being a victim as a child.

1. Please kindly tell us about yourself?

Adebara Adebimpe is a digital strategist, Girl Child Advocate, Mental Health Advocate, Business Manager, Passionate Teacher and a Trained Child Safety Advocate. She hails from iludun oro, Kwara state but was born and bred in Lagos state Nigeria.

Adebimpe has over 5years volunteering experience in nonprofit sector. Currently, She is the founder and director of "Piece of my heart Foundation "  where she leads a team of volunteers in educating children and their caregivers about body safety education. In Just one year of launching, Adebimpe and her team have impacted over 5000 people.
 She is a skillz girl coach at Youth empowerment and development initiative where she educate adolescent girls about their sexual and reproductive health. She is also volunteer teacher at EduAid, a Global youth ambassador at Their World,
A fellow of Mike oladipupo global leadership institute.

Adebimpe is a graduate of Yaba college of technology, Lagos. She is a trained child advocate by Christiana Faith foundation and Laura kid's foundation U.S.A. she is a fellow of Mike Oladipupo global leadership institute. She studied digital marketing with goggle.

Having suffered as a victim of sexual abuse as a child and determined to put an end to the menace in the society. She strongly believes prevention is better than rehabilitation.

 In her spare time, she volunteers her expertise for educational project, which she has reached out to about 5000 parents,teachers and children across Southwest Nigeria through sensitization and tranings. She also helps sexual abuse survivors to get over depression and anxiety. She was featured on the leading ladies Africa this year


2. Tell us about your Non-profit Organization ?

 Piece of my heart foundation is a nonprofit organization that was established to create a safe space for children, adolescents and children.


3. What brought about your Non-profit and when did it start?

 I got the vision based on what i experienced as a child, i was sexually assaulted by my uncle and I started getting flashbacks of it when I was 21 years old. Piece of my heart foundation started in 2018

4. What were the main challenges you faced early on when you started this Vision and how did you overcome them ?

 The main challenge i faced early was that i knew nothing about nonprofit organizations or the subject i wanted to tell the world. I overcame this by pursuing knowledge.


5. What has been the biggest challenge you have faced since you started?

Since I started, the organization as been self funded, which makes us limited to reach out to more people.



6. What do you consider success in your Non-profit?

 My success in my non profit is the countless lives we have been able to impact both offline and online.



7. At what point did you begin to achieve success in your pursuit of your Vision and how did it happen?

 I don't see helping others as an achievement, it is just about taking responsiblity wherever we find ourselves.

8. What would you consider your greatest achievement ever since you started ?

 Making sure you help other avoid the mistakes you made.


9. Who has inspired you the most as a Non-profit founder? 

 God is my inspiration, the passion to help others too.

10. If you could go back in time, what are the changes you would have made for your Non-profit?

 I would have learnt more about the sector before venturing into it

11 What else should we see you doing in the Future?

In future, we will own a safe space house, where people both young and old can come to speak out and get help.

12. Aside your Non-Profit, what are your other interests?

 I'm a tech savy, i love photography and i love teaching.

13. You favourite book, song and food?

 I love good books, i love slow music especially, worship songs. My best food is beans and plantain.

14. What's the most important lesson you have learnt since you started your Non-profit?

The most important lesson i have learnt is that we are all capable of making the change we desire.
