Meet Damilola Matty and her inspiring Artworks

Recently on Attain , we interviewed Damilola Matty, artist and CEO Gosperalla Art, a brand with interests in music, writing and artworks.

Please kindly tell us about yourself?

I am Damilola Matty. An indigene of Lagos State. The fifth among now children. And an OND holder in mass communication.

Tell us about what your Profession and brand?

Gospella art is a brand that consist of music, writing and my artist skill. The brand (although still under construction) is not just built up for the aim of selling artworks. It's also a brand that's set up to encourage and reach out to people all over the world, in terms of building a self confidence in what ever field you choose. And according to it's name "Gospella" which is extracted out of the name GOSPEL... Is also aimed at bringing good news through Christian music and books.

What Inspired your venturing into this profession?

Well, I would say GOD Inspired me. Because I've got so many excuses for not doing it in the first place, But whenever I think about the Gifts GOD Has placed in my Hands, I begin to encourage myself that.... "Dammy, GOD hasn't given you all these talents in vain"

Another thing is, most times people limit the ability of a lady. I also want to correct that motion too.

What are the main challenges you have faced in your career?

The main challenge I had was the inability to stand for myself when people talked me down. I couldn't depend on my capabilities, and few people had the entrance to tag me as being unfocused because of my choice of career.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your career so far?

(smiles)I'll say my family... expecially my dad. You as a father, you expect great things to become of your children. And what child would walk up to her papa says "daddy, I want to be an artist.(a female child)" I saw in point of view that man that wants the best for his children will flare up.
He wanted law, but I wanted art. Confusion set in and I lost concentration. I started shifting my attention from arts to law. I would tell you, it all didn't go well.

At what point did you begin to achieve success in your career and how did it happen?

After my national Diploma, I wanted to go back for my higher national diploma (HND). My prayer has always been. GOD, LET YOUR OWN WILL BE DONE. It all happened like a dream when something went wrong with my result. I had to stay back. When I couldn't get a help in it, I got a Direction From GOD To go back to my First plan. And ever since I began. Even when my sketchings were perfect, I've been getting encouragements.

I will say GOD Will always bring HIS PLANS in our livesto perfection. And HE'S BEEN and will Always be FAITHFUL. Like Peter said, I'm also looking forward to attain perfection.

What would you consider your greatest achievement since you started?

So far, the combination of the pencil portraits I made all together has gotten more than 1500 likes on Facebook. I've got few fans interested and following up. I've not been given much attention as this ever before.

Who has Inspired you the most?

GOD; And my boss and tutor.... De genius arts production.
I've got professional artists I follow up too.. like Rapid fire arts, Damain arts,  Godylock Art... To mention but few

If you could go back in time, what are the changes you would have made in your journey?

I would have been more focused and make my decision strict and unchangeable. Because lack of all these costs me year.

What should we see you doing in the Future?

Wow.... A lot. Like fully setting up my blog. Going into the music ministry. I.e gospella music. And of course, becoming one of the best and well recognized artists in the world.

Also great and positive influence matters. Will be organising seminars to improve GOD'S Given Talents in individual.

What's your advice to someone just starting out or someone who intends to follow the same career path as yours?

First JESUS CHRIST LOVES YOU. Believe in HIM and HE Will Make your ways perfect.
Don't be in a rush to make it in life. Know your purpose on earth. And don't allow anyone intimidate you. And choose your friends wisely. And always know that nobody can hate or love you more than yourself. so love yourself and no negative opinion will count in your life.

What are your other interests?

Hmmmn, like I said... Writing, singing and minding my business*(smiles)
