Provided below is the full online interview:
Please kindly tell us about yourself/ Tell us about your business Brand(s)?
I am Bolu Oluwagbesan. I am professionally a marketing consultant with a focus on online channels as mediums of sale. I have a special focus on Facebook and Instagram as sources of lead generation and outright customer acquisition, I am also working on a start-up named Wepair (more on that in the future). I head a company named Gambler Design Studio, in partnership with a friend.
What were the main challenges you faced early on in your business and entrepreneurial journey?
Major challenges for me has been infrastructural. Because i do my things online, I have faced big challenges with fast/reliable connection and sometimes, when our generators are faulty, we are doomed to lack of electricity. A big pain point.
What was the biggest challenge you ever faced in your entrepreneurial journey?
The biggest challenge was keeping the system profitable. People owe you a lot. So I have experienced very massive debts from some clients.
At what point did you begin to achieve success in your entrepreneurial journey and how did it happen?
Although, I still see myself as far from my dreams, but one year and about two months into the business, it began to click a bit. Still a long way to go. But it became sustainable at that point.
If you could go back in time, what are the changes you would have made in your business/ entrepreneurial journey?
Because I have not been doing it for too long, I feel I still have the power to change the things. So I don't know off my head right now.
What should we see you doing in the Future?
I am working on a project called Wepair - hopefully you should see it in the future. Hopefully!
What's your advice to someone just starting out in business/entrepreneurship?
My advice is CUT COST. Don't employ people for the sake of it, don't get an office for the sake of it. Focus on customers - if you can get them online and not an office, do it that way. Don't kill yourself with an overhead cost.
